Photographers searching for a motorised camera slider may be interested in a new project launched via Kickstarter this week for the SlideBorg. Designed by a team based in Basel, Switzerland, the SlideBorg has been created to provide photographers with the ultimate solution for motorised camera control. Watch the demonstration video below to learn more about its features, construction and specifications.
Early bird pledges are available from £201 for a manual version of the SlideBorg, with motorised options available from £400 offering a 60 cm run. Marko Rancic, a quantum physicist and robotics engineer, explains more about the inspiration behind the SlideBorg.
“Motorised camera sliders are a must-have tool for professional photographers and videographers. However, they require custom batteries, mastering a complicated user interface and up to half a dozen of different cables to operate. Our desire to make a simple yet fully functional motorised camera slider which operates with just 4 AA batteries made us create Slide cyborg – SlideBorg. We take special pride that SlideBorg has an extremely simple user interface without losing any functionality which competing motorised sliders have. “
Equipped with four 2350 mAh batteries the SlideBorg can be powered for up to 5 hours straight but comes with an included power cable enabling you to keep going for even longer if desired. SlideBorg is mountable on a single tripod or two tripods for extra stability.
Specifications of the SlideBorg motorised camera slider include :
– 1.5 kg
– pulls up to 15 kg
– up to 5 hrs of operation time with 4X1.2V AA batteries
– made out of aluminium and carbon fibre
– stealth, as demonstrated in the project video
