The Microsoft Surface RT tablet has been a lot less popular than Microsoft had hoped. According to a recent report by The Verge, Microsoft is looking to improve the device and this may come in the form of a new more powerful processor.
The Microsoft Surface RT currently uses a NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, although Microsoft is looking at replacing the Tegra 3 with a processor from Qualcomm, and it may be their new flagship processor.

The updated Microsoft Surface RT is rumored to feature the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, which comes with built-in LTE. The updated device is also expected to come with Windows RT 8.1.
Potential Benefits of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Processor
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor is known for its high performance and efficiency. By integrating this processor, the Surface RT could see significant improvements in speed, battery life, and overall performance. The Snapdragon 800 is designed to handle more demanding applications and multitasking with ease, which could make the Surface RT more appealing to power users and professionals.
Additionally, the built-in LTE capability of the Snapdragon 800 means that users could enjoy faster internet speeds and more reliable connectivity on the go. This is particularly beneficial for business users who need to stay connected while traveling.
Windows RT 8.1: What to Expect
The updated Surface RT is also expected to come with Windows RT 8.1, which brings a host of new features and improvements over the original Windows RT. Windows RT 8.1 includes enhancements to the Start screen, better multitasking capabilities, and improved support for external devices. Users can also expect a more refined user interface and additional customization options.
One of the key features of Windows RT 8.1 is the improved integration with Microsoft’s cloud services, such as OneDrive and Office 365. This allows users to easily access and sync their files across multiple devices, making the Surface RT a more versatile tool for both personal and professional use.
Moreover, Windows RT 8.1 offers better app compatibility and a wider selection of apps available through the Windows Store. This could help address one of the main criticisms of the original Surface RT, which was the limited availability of apps compared to other platforms.
