Microsoft announced its latest financial results yesterday, and the company also revealed some sales details on their Surface range of tablets and Lumia range of smartphones.
Sales of the Microsoft Surface tablets passed $1 billion for the first time in their most recent financial quarter, generating $1.1 billion in revenue.
The company also improved sales of their Lumia range of Windows Phones handsets which sat at 10.5 million Lumia devices sold, this is up from 9.3 million in their previous financial quarter.
Microsoft has seen its sales of smartphones increase mainly due to increased demand for ‘affordable smartphones’ which would be the company’s lower end devices.
The company is expected to release some high end Lumia devices later in the year, and it will be interesting to see how these devices compete with the top Android handsets from HTC and Samsung and Apple’s iPhone.
