Microsoft seems to have had a great year in 2010 with their Xbox 360 console, and the reported sales of the Xbox 360 console for December are in at a massive 1.9 million consoles sold.
Microsoft’s Xbox 360 sales for 2010 were up 42 percent over 2009, which is pretty impressive considering the console is five years old, and much of the success is attributed to the launch of the Microsoft Kinect.
Microsoft announced recently that they had sold a total of 8 million Kinect’s for the Xbox 360 in the first 60 days, and the launch of the Kinect obviously also helped sales of the Xbox 360 at the end of the year.
Microsoft has said that there may be some shortages of the Xbox 360 console in January and February as the Redmond company had to make available Xbox 360 consoles from its January and February production runs in December to meet demand.
The Microsoft Kinect has become popular amongst gamers, as well as DIYers and hackers who are having fun with new ways to use the Microsoft Kinect, we suspect Microsoft will see strong sales of both the Xbox 360 console and the Kinect in 2011.
