Car maker Mercedes-Benz has showcased a new gesture-controlled HUD (heads-up display) at this year’s CES. The system is called DICE, which stands for Dynamic and Intuitive Control Experience.
The DICE system doesn’t have any buttons to control the system. Instead, it uses gestures and a range of proximity sensors that detect your movements and perform the tasks you want. Have a look at the video of it in action below.
How DICE Works
As you can see from the video, DICE can be controlled by moving your hands. If you move your hands left or right, the system scrolls through the menus. There are also several challenges that need to be addressed before DICE can become mainstream. One of the main challenges is ensuring that the system can function accurately in various lighting conditions and weather scenarios.
