As well as announcing the launch of their new Intel Edison dual core mini PC which is roughly the same size as an SD memory card. Intel has also announced that they will be replacing the well-known McAfee security product branding with Intel Security.
The announcements were made this morning at CES 2014 by Intel CEO Brian Krzanich also explained that the changeover will take place as new products are introduced to Intel’s range of security solutions.
However Intel’s security range of products will not be receiving a completely new logo but jest a new brand name. The security products will continue to be branded with the red shield which Intel says represents its “core values of security and protection”.
The McAfee company will continue to operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Intel, with employees working side-by-side Intel employees. Intel mission statement will also remain the same saying :
“Intel aims to provide ubiquitous security and identity protection for individuals and businesses on all computing devices, and lead the industry by enabling a safe digital experience for every person on Earth.”
Intel also announced that they would be offerings certain elements of their McAfee security solutions for mobile devices at no cost, which will also include its data and device protection solutions for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices.
Unfortunately no information on worldwide availability has been released as yet by Intel for the free mobile security app to roll out, but as soon as information comes to light we will keep you updated as always.
