If you need to shoot your video out to a computer really long way from your actual computer and still have control of that computer via the mouse and keyboard Matrox has a new KVM that has a crazy long range. The new KVM is called the F2208 and it uses fiber optic cabling to send the video up to 3280 feet away.
The fiber optic cable allows the Extio F2208 to have arranged of a kilometer. That would mean an enterprise could connect a computer in one facility where the machine can be physical secure and then shoot control out to a remote facility. The KVM will work with dual mode and single mode cable and supports resolutions up to 2560 x 1600 with DisplayPort.
The device has support for VGA and DVI as well with up to 1920 x 1200. Two screens can be attached to the KVM and it has five USB ports that allows the user to connect a mouse, keyboard, and other peripherals. Pricing and availability are unknown.
