EA has today confirmed suspicions that the older Mass Effect 2 game saves that are currently stored in the new Xbox Live Cloud game save area will not work with the new Mass Effect 3 game.
However don’t despair there is a way you can circumvent the glitch to still play with your older Mass Effect 2 game saves and continue your character, if you can still access the system you played the game on.
Simply log back in to the console on which you originally saved your Mass Effect 2 game and create a local copy of the save file rather than using the Cloud feature. Unfortunately if you can’t access the console you originally save the game from, then you are out of luck say EA. EA explains a little more about the glitch with Cloud Saves and Mass Effect 3.
“While Mass Effect 3 supports cloud saving for new or successfully imported Mass Effect 2 saves, it does not support the importation of endgame saves directly from the cloud. Additionally, this can cause it to not recognize save files that have been transferred via cloud to a console other than the one where they originated,”
