The Porsche Mission E is Porsche’s new all-electric car that comes with around 600 horsepower. Recently, former Formula 1 driver Mark Webber had the opportunity to take this groundbreaking vehicle for a spin on the track, providing us with an exciting glimpse into what the future holds for Porsche’s electric ambitions.
Performance and Specifications
The Mission E is expected to launch in 2019, and it promises to be a game-changer in the electric vehicle market. With its 600 horsepower, the car is designed to deliver both speed and efficiency. The vehicle is expected to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds, making it one of the fastest electric cars on the market. Additionally, the Mission E aims to offer a range of over 300 miles on a single charge, thanks to its advanced battery technology.
One of the standout features of the Mission E is its 800-volt charging system, which allows the battery to be charged to 80% capacity in just 15 minutes. This rapid charging capability is a significant advancement over current electric vehicles, which often require several hours to reach a similar level of charge.
Design and Technology
The Mission E is not just about performance; it also boasts a sleek and futuristic design that stays true to Porsche’s iconic aesthetic. The car features a low, wide stance with a streamlined body that enhances its aerodynamic efficiency. Inside, the Mission E offers a luxurious and technologically advanced cabin, complete with a digital dashboard and touch-sensitive controls.
Porsche has also integrated advanced driver-assistance systems into the Mission E, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automated parking. These features not only enhance the driving experience but also contribute to the overall safety of the vehicle.
Have a look at the video below, as we get our first look at Porsche’s new electric car.
I’ve got many Porsche moments that will stay with me forever – winning the WEC in the 919 Hybrid would be one – and I think I’ve just experienced another: driving the Mission E for the first time.
It’s a game changer, this car. Quite literally, it is stealth in motion.
Still clearly a Porsche, it actually kept reminding me of the 919, as there were times where we could drive our Le Mans racer on E-Motor alone.
Driving Experience
Mark Webber’s test drive of the Mission E provides valuable insights into the car’s performance and handling. According to Webber, the car is “stealth in motion,” offering a smooth and silent driving experience that is characteristic of electric vehicles. Despite its electric powertrain, the Mission E retains the driving dynamics that Porsche is known for, making it a true driver’s car.
Webber also noted that the Mission E reminded him of the 919 Hybrid, Porsche’s Le Mans-winning race car. This comparison highlights the advanced engineering and performance capabilities of the Mission E, which aims to bring race car technology to the consumer market.
It certainly looks impressive from the video, and the car’s performance on the track suggests that it will be a formidable competitor in the electric vehicle market. You can find out more information about the new Mission E over at Porsche at the link below.
