Wagner Robotics based in Manhattan New York has developed a new modular magnetic USB connector which provides a handy solution for a number of everyday problems concerning USB connections.
The magnetic USB connector has been specifically designed to provide a strong hold when connected and is grooved to snap fit with other modules in the system. Watch the demonstration video below to learn more about the MagWag modular magnetic USB connector.
It’s a pretty simple idea. Wouldn’t it be great if you could connect ALL your USB devices with magnets? MagWags let you connect all your USB devices with magnets, and then some. They feature strong magnets that release when you want them to, durable construction and channels for snapping them into other parts so they can be part of larger projects.
MagWags are designed not just for solid breakaway magnetic USB connections, but also to snap into other parts. Whether it’s just a clip to hold USB cables or a whacky insane Rube Goldberg machine, MagWags are made to fit, and that makes the list of uses for MagWags endless. We are so eager to see and share the creative things people come up with for MagWags that we’re having a contest.
Submit your ideas for how you would use MagWags. On May 1st, we will announce our TOP TEN LIST for the top ten entries. The entry we find MOST interesting and inspiring will win 10 free MagWags to help make that idea come true. The top ten entries will each receive a free Wagner Robotics T-Shirt. We will also post some entries with updates periodically as they come in. Duplicate entries will be ruled in favor of the first received. To submit an entry, just include your idea when submitting your backing for a reward. The contest is open to all backers.
Some ideas for things you can do with them:
• Connecting USB wires, duh!
• Making hot-swappable interchangeable tool heads (what inspired them)
• Connecting game controllers, so you can get excited without worrying about breaking your console
• Connecting wearable devices
• Test jigs
• Charging things
• Stress relief (the tactile feel is just plain satisfying)
