Square Enix has released a new gameplay trailer during this week’s E3 2017 games conference, for the upcoming Life Is Strange prequel that will be arriving during the summer months of 2017.
The Life Is Strange: Before The Storm gameplay trailer is embedded below and is being created by US-based developer Deck Nine as previously rumoured.
About Life Is Strange: Before The Storm
The new Life Is Strange content will release as a three-part miniseries. As soon as more details are made available, we will keep you up to date as always. Life is Strange: Before the Storm looks to tell the story of Rachel and Chloe, prior to the events of hit 2015 game Life is Strange. This prequel aims to delve deeper into the backstory of these beloved characters, exploring their complex relationship and the events that shaped their lives before the arrival of Max Caulfield in the original game.
Gameplay and Features
The original Life is Strange is available to play on PC, OS X, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Life is Strange: Before the Storm Episode 1 comes out on release date August 31st 2017. Unlike the original game, which featured time-rewinding mechanics, Before the Storm will focus more on narrative choices and the consequences of those choices. Players will step into the shoes of Chloe Price, experiencing her rebellious teenage years and her tumultuous friendship with Rachel Amber.
One of the key features of Before the Storm is the introduction of the “Backtalk” system, which allows Chloe to use her sharp wit and attitude to provoke or get her way in conversations. This adds a new layer of strategy to the game, as players must decide when to push back and when to hold back.
Expanded Storyline and Emotional Depth
Life is Strange: Before the Storm promises to deliver an emotionally charged narrative that explores themes of friendship, loss, and personal growth. The game will provide players with a deeper understanding of Chloe’s character, her motivations, and the struggles she faces. The relationship between Chloe and Rachel will be a central focus, offering players a chance to witness the bond that ultimately shapes Chloe’s actions in the original game.
The game’s developers have also emphasized the importance of player choice, with decisions made in Before the Storm having a significant impact on the story’s outcome. This ensures that each player’s experience will be unique, adding replay value to the game.
Visuals and Soundtrack
In addition to its compelling narrative, Life is Strange: Before the Storm boasts stunning visuals and a captivating soundtrack. The game’s art style remains true to the original, with beautifully crafted environments and character designs that bring the world of Arcadia Bay to life. The soundtrack, featuring a mix of licensed tracks and original compositions, sets the tone for the game’s emotional journey, enhancing the overall experience.
Life is Strange: Before the Storm is shaping up to be a must-play for fans of the original game and newcomers alike. With its rich storytelling, engaging gameplay mechanics, and emotional depth, this prequel promises to deliver an unforgettable experience. As we await the release of Episode 1 on August 31st, 2017, anticipation continues to build for what is sure to be another standout entry in the Life is Strange series.
