Jaguar has confirmed that it will be producing an EV version of the classic E-Type sports car. While confirmation that the car will be produced has been made Jaguar is withholding any hard details about the car and its powertrain. What we know is that the EV tech will be based on that used in the I-PACE electric SUV.
With the massive difference in size between the E-Type and the I-Pace you can bet the battery capacity and perhaps the dual motor setup from the SUV won’t be able to fit inside the E-Type. Still, the thought of a classic and sexy E-Type with a modern electric powertrain is appealing.
Jag says that the EV cars will be built at the same Jaguar Classic facility where normal E-Types are restored. Jag will convert existing E-Types into EVs as well and says that the EV conversion can be undone to preserve the accuracy of the donor vehicle. First deliveries are expected in the summer of 2020.
