If you’re thinking of creating your own homemade Iron Man suit using scrap parts from a garage it might be worth constructing a flight simulator to practice on before you take your new suit for its maiden flight.
Using a small crane, a hang glider harness, unmanned aerial vehicle wings, the propeller and engine of a microlight, VR goggles, Wii remote and Google Earth Flight Simulator. A team has done just that. Check out the video after the jump.
As part of a research project the team has created the ‘Ironman simulator’. Which is designed to replicate the Iron Man’s flying experience in real life and not with computer generated movements as with most flight simulators.
Strap yourself in or use one brave experimenter, crank up the microlight engine and you’re away.
