Yesterday Apple announced its new iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 and now we have the full details on Apple’s latest iPad Air, which will be sold along with last years model.
The new iPad Air 2 comes with a 9.7 inch Retina Display that has a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels and 264 pixels per inch, the tablet measures 9.4 inches tall by 6.6 inches wide and is thinner than the previous model coming in at just 0.24 inches thick.
Apple introduced a new mobile processor for the iPad Air 2, called the Apple A8X and it also features an Apple M8 motion coprocessor, this is the companies third 64-bit mobile processor, as the new A8 launched in the iPhone 6.
According to Apple, the new A8X processor is 40 percent faster than their previous iPad processor, and the graphics have also been improved by 2.5 times over the first generation iPad Air.
Apple has added their TouchID fingerprint sensor to their latest iPads and they will also be making their new Apple Pay mobile payment system available on the iPad Air.
The new iPad Air comes with a 1.2 megapixel front facing FaceTime HD camera that features backside illumination, face detection, and the ability to record HD video in 720p.
The rear camera on the iPad Air 2 is a new 8 megapixel iSight camera with auto focus, face detection, a five element lens, an f/2.4 aperture, HDR, Panorama and Burst Modes.
Apple has finally added a gold color option for the new iPad Air 2, so you can now choose from three colors, silver, gold or Space Gray.
There are now three different storage sizes to choose from, the entry level model comes with 16GB, the next model has 64GB and the top model has 128GB.
As usual you can choose from a WiFi only model or a WiFi and cellular, and prices for the WiFi model start at $499 for the 16GB iPad Air 2, $599 for the 64GB and $699 for the 128GB model. If you want the cellular model it is a little more with the 16GB starting at $629, the 64GB at $729 and the $128GB at $829.
