The new iPad Air 2 launched recently, and prices of Apple’s latest tablet start at $499 for the entry level 16GB WiFi model. Now we have some details on how much the iPad Air 2 cost to make.
According to research form , the entry level iPad Air 2 costs Apple around $275 to built, this includes parts and manufacturing costs, the top model, which is the 128GB LTE iPad Air 2 costs around $358 to make but retails for $829.
Apple is apparently making between 45 and 57 percent profit on each iPad Air 2 it sells, this is slightly less than the first generation iPad Air, where the profit margin was between 45 and 61 percent.
Apple changed the display slightly on the new version of the iPad Air, and according to the report from IHS, the display is actually cheaper to make than the previous display used in the original Air, and this new display comes with an anti reflective coating
Apple have seen increased costs on components of the tablet in the cameras which are slight more expensive than the previous models.
The new iPad Air 2 also comes with a new faster processor, the Apple A8X, which is an updated version of the A8 processor that first launched in the iPhone 6.
