Apple’s new iPhone 11 handsets are now official, and Apple has announced that iOS 13 will be released on the 19th of September.
The software is coming next Thursday, the day before the new iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max go on sale.
New Features in iOS 13
Apple’s iOS 13 software brings a wide range of new features to the iPhone and iPad. The iPad is getting a version of the software called iPadOS that has been designed specifically for Apple tablets. The iPadOS is coming later on the 30th of September.
Some of the new features in the new version of iOS include the “Sign in with Apple” feature, which offers a more private way to sign into apps and websites. This feature allows users to sign in with their Apple ID, providing a more secure and private alternative to using social accounts or filling out forms.
There are also major changes to a number of apps including Photos, Apple CarPlay, Apple Maps, Siri, and more. The Photos app has been redesigned to make it easier to browse and edit your photos. It now includes powerful new editing tools and a more intuitive interface.
Apple CarPlay has received a significant update with a new Dashboard that provides a simpler view of the road ahead. It now supports more third-party navigation and audio apps, making it more versatile for users.
Apple Maps has been rebuilt from the ground up with more detailed maps, better road coverage, and improved pedestrian data. It also includes a new “Look Around” feature that provides a street-level view similar to Google Street View.
Siri has been improved with a more natural-sounding voice and better integration with third-party apps. It can now read incoming messages through AirPods and suggest automations based on your daily routines.
iTunes Replacement and Other Updates
Apple is also replacing the iTunes app with three independent apps: Apple Music, Apple TV, and Apple Podcasts. These three apps will have the same functionality as iTunes but will be more focused and easier to use. Apple Music will continue to offer access to your music library and the Apple Music streaming service. Apple TV will provide access to your purchased movies and TV shows, as well as the new Apple TV+ streaming service. Apple Podcasts will offer access to your podcast subscriptions and a vast library of free podcasts.
In addition to these major updates, iOS 13 includes a number of smaller improvements and new features. For example, the new Dark Mode provides a dark color scheme that is easier on the eyes and can help save battery life on OLED displays. The QuickPath keyboard allows for faster typing by swiping across the keyboard to form words. The Reminders app has been completely redesigned with new features like smart lists and improved Siri integration.
Privacy and security have also been enhanced in iOS 13. The new location controls give you more control over how apps access your location data. You can now choose to share your location with an app just once, and Apple will notify you if an app is using your location in the background.
We will have more information on the new iOS 13 software when it is released next week.
