Intel has announced its latest Core i7 processor, the Intel Intel Core i7-980X Extreme Edition. The Intel Core i7-980X Extreme Edition is Intel’s first processor with six cores, which is designed to offer increased system performance.
The Intel Core i7-980X Extreme Edition is now Intel flagship processor, replacing the Core i7-975 Extreme Edition, although this model will still be available.
So how much does six core cost you? Intel will be selling the Intel Core i7-980X Extreme Edition for $999, which is the same price of the previous flagship processor.
The Intel Core i7-980X Extreme Edition features a base clock speed of 3.33GHz, and it supports three channels of DDR3-1066 memory, and with six cores it means it has twelve threads for applications to work with. It also features 12MB L3 cache which is shared across all six cores.
The Intel Core i7-980X Extreme Edition is available now for $999.
