Intel is working to bring a new 3D Printed Robot kit to market that is very cool. The kit will be available in a few versions with each offering different hardware.
The main consumer kit is one that has all the parts to build the robot and it will sell for around $1,600 online. Two other kits will be offered as well.
One of the kits will use an Intel Core i5 processor rather than the basic Intel Edison CPU with the high-end kit selling for around $16,000. For the builder looking to get into DIY robotics on their own, Intel will offer the plans for 3D printing certain parts of the robot kit at home.
A kit including the basic electronics needed to go with those home 3D printed items will be offered. Intel expects that electronics kit to cost under $1000. The components for the DIY kit and the complete kit will be available online.
The electronics kit will feature things like motors, wires, the battery, processor, and other items. Intel has offered no precise launch date for the robotics kit, it certainly looks very interesting from the photo, and we are looking forward to finding out more information on this new 3D printed robot kit from Intel.
