IKEA is expected to unveil a new smart button soon according to a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) filing. The documents have revealed the first details for the IKEA Shortcut Button, design to activate a “scene” in homes equipped with the IKEA range of smart home devices. Users will be able to create “scenes” using the smartphone IKEA smart home companion application available for both iOS and Android devices.
Powered by a button battery the IKEA smart button can be run for up to 2 years on a single battery, and will require a IKEA Tradfri gateway to operate.
