According to a recent report by Bloomberg, IBM is interested in RIM’s enterprise services unit, and have made an informal approach to RIM about possibly acquiring the unit.
RIM’s enterprise service unit operates a network of secure servers that are used to support RIM’s BlackBerry devices, although it looks like IBM are only interested in this unit and not RIM’s mobile phone division.
RIM recently said that they are looking for partners to license their BlackBerry 10 OS, although it doesn’t seem if anyone is interested at the moment, we are expecting the first BlackBerry 10 devices to launch next year.
