RCS is the new standard which is supposed to replace SMS and now Google has announced that smartphone maker Huawei will be using RCS on its range of smartphones and also integrating Android Messages into its handsets.
The company plans to integrate Android Messages into its handsets this year and it will bring a range of new features to the company’s smartphones.
RCS messaging offers a range of features over standard SMS, this includes texting over WiFi, sharing of rich media and more.
To help carriers accelerate deployment of RCS messaging across their networks, HUAWEI is collaborating with Google to offer the Jibe RCS cloud and hub solution to current and prospective carrier partners, as part of an integrated solution with HUAWEI’s IMS. This will enable faster time-to-market for RCS services so more subscribers can get access to RCS messaging.
The company will start to integrate Android Messages into their range of devices in the ‘coming months’ as yet there are no details on which devices will be the first to get it.
