It looks like at least two of HTC’s devices will be getting an update to the latest version of Google’s mobile OS, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The devices in question are the HTC One XL (One X) and the HTC One S.
The guys over at Engadget spotted the updates on Australian mobile carrier Telstra’s website, although there are no details on when the updates will be released.
HTC is preparing an update but it yet to confirm the date it will be submitted for Telstra testing.
What to Expect from Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean brings a host of new features and improvements over its predecessor, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Users can look forward to a smoother and more responsive user interface thanks to “Project Butter,” which aims to make the system run at a consistent 60 frames per second. This results in a more fluid experience when navigating through the OS and using apps.
Another significant addition is Google Now, an intelligent personal assistant that provides real-time information based on your habits and preferences. For instance, it can show you the weather, traffic updates, and even remind you of upcoming appointments. The notification system has also been revamped, allowing for more interactive and expandable notifications.
HTC One XL and One S: A Closer Look
The HTC One XL, also known as the HTC One X in some regions, is a high-end smartphone that boasts a 4.7-inch Super LCD2 display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. It is powered by a dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and comes with 1 GB of RAM. The device also features an 8-megapixel rear camera capable of recording 1080p video and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.
On the other hand, the HTC One S is slightly smaller with a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display, also with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. It is equipped with a dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and 1 GB of RAM, similar to the One XL. The One S also features an 8-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front-facing camera.
Both devices are well-regarded for their build quality and performance, making them excellent candidates for the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update. The update is expected to enhance the overall user experience, making these already impressive devices even better.
As soon as we get some more information on when the Android 4.1 update for both of these HTC Android smartphones will be available, we will let you guys know.
