HTC has this week confirmed that pre-orders for its new and highly anticipated HTC Vive virtual reality headset will be opening next month on February 29th. Allowing those interested a chance to be first in line when the hardware starts shipping later in 2016.
The news follows on from the pre-order launch of the new Oculus Rift VR headset created by Oculus that is now owned by Facebook. Who will start shipping to the first batch of per-orders during March 2016, although if you pre-order the device today you will have to wait until June 2016 to get your hands on the Rift.
The VIVE headset was developed in conjunction with Valve, and there is still no mention of the price that HTC will be charging for the headset when it becomes available to pre-order. HTC explain more on their site :
