It looks like we may finally have an official launch date for the HTC Thunderbolt. We did expect it to go on sale last week, but now online retailer Wirefly has started taking pre-orders on the Thunderbolt and will start shipping it out to customers on the 17th of March.
Verizon has yet to announce this as the official launch date of the HTC Thunderbolt, although we are hoping that this will be confirmed sometime later today.
We originally thought that the HTC Thunderbolt would go on sale back in February, but it was delayed due to battery problems. So let’s hope that this latest launch date of the 17th of March, this Thursday from Wirefly, is the correct one.
HTC Thunderbolt Features and Specifications
As a reminder, the HTC Thunderbolt comes with a 4.3-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display, which offers a vibrant and responsive user experience. The device is equipped with an 8-megapixel rear camera, capable of capturing high-quality photos and videos. Additionally, there is a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera designed for video chats, making it a versatile option for both photography enthusiasts and those who enjoy video calling.
The HTC Thunderbolt also includes 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, ensuring fast and reliable internet connectivity. Bluetooth 2.1+EDR is available for seamless pairing with other devices, and A-GPS provides accurate location tracking. The dual microphones enhance audio quality during calls, while the built-in compass aids in navigation. The microUSB port allows for easy charging and data transfer, and the FM Radio offers entertainment on the go.
Additional Features and User Experience
Beyond its core specifications, the HTC Thunderbolt is designed to deliver a robust user experience. The device runs on a powerful processor, ensuring smooth multitasking and efficient performance. The large 4.3-inch display is perfect for media consumption, whether you’re watching videos, browsing the web, or playing games. The capacitive touchscreen is highly responsive, making navigation intuitive and enjoyable.
The HTC Thunderbolt also supports Verizon’s 4G LTE network, promising faster download and upload speeds compared to 3G networks. This makes it an excellent choice for users who require high-speed internet access for streaming, downloading large files, or online gaming. The device’s battery life, which was a concern during its initial delay, has been optimized to ensure it can handle the demands of 4G connectivity without frequent recharging.
For those who enjoy customizing their smartphones, the HTC Thunderbolt offers a range of personalization options. Users can choose from various widgets, themes, and wallpapers to make their device truly unique. The Android operating system provides access to a vast library of apps through the Google Play Store, allowing users to enhance their device’s functionality with everything from productivity tools to entertainment apps.
