As a reminder, the HP Pre 3 comes with a 3.58 inch touchscreen display and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The display comes with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, and processing is provided by a 1.4GHz Qualcomm processor.
The Pre 3 also comes with 512MB of RAM, plus there will be two models available, one with 16GB of built-in storage and one with 32GB of built-in storage. There is also 801.11 b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR.
Enhanced Features and Specifications
The HP Pre 3 is designed to cater to both business professionals and tech enthusiasts. Its slide-out QWERTY keyboard is particularly beneficial for those who prefer physical keys over touchscreen typing, making it easier to compose emails and messages quickly. The 3.58-inch touchscreen is capacitive, ensuring responsive and smooth touch interactions, which is crucial for navigating through the webOS interface.
The 1.4GHz Qualcomm processor ensures that the Pre 3 can handle multitasking with ease. This is complemented by the 512MB of RAM, which, while modest by today’s standards, was quite competitive at the time of its release. The device’s performance is further enhanced by the efficient webOS, known for its intuitive card-based multitasking system.
Connectivity and Multimedia
In terms of connectivity, the HP Pre 3 is well-equipped. The inclusion of 801.11 b/g/n WiFi ensures that users can connect to a variety of wireless networks, providing fast internet access whether at home, in the office, or on the go. Bluetooth 2.1+EDR allows for easy pairing with a wide range of devices, from wireless headsets to car audio systems.
The Pre 3 also features a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, capable of capturing high-quality photos and videos. This makes it a versatile device for both work and play. Additionally, the front-facing VGA camera supports video calls, adding another layer of functionality for business users who need to stay connected with colleagues and clients.
The device supports a variety of multimedia formats, ensuring that users can enjoy their favorite music, videos, and photos without compatibility issues. The built-in storage options of 16GB and 32GB provide ample space for apps, media, and documents, although the lack of expandable storage might be a limitation for some users.
Battery Life and Additional Features
Battery life is always a critical factor for mobile devices, and the HP Pre 3 does not disappoint. It comes with a 1230mAh battery, which provides a decent amount of usage time, although heavy users might find themselves needing to recharge by the end of the day. The device also features a microUSB port for charging and data transfer, which is a standard feature that ensures compatibility with a wide range of accessories.
Another notable feature of the HP Pre 3 is its integration with HP’s Touchstone technology. This allows for wireless charging and easy data transfer between compatible HP devices, adding a layer of convenience for users who are invested in the HP ecosystem.
The HP Pre 3 is a well-rounded smartphone that offers a good balance of performance, connectivity, and multimedia capabilities. Its physical keyboard, responsive touchscreen, and efficient webOS make it a compelling choice for users who need a reliable and versatile device. With its imminent release in Germany, it will be interesting to see how it performs in the market and whether it can carve out a niche for itself amidst stiff competition.
