The extent of my musical talent stops at playing Rock Band, so you won’t find this cool new DJ console in my house. I would bet that there are a lot of folks out there that have thought it would be cool to try their hand at being a real DJ but the cost of the gear has kept them from trying. DJ consoles can cost thousands of dollars, but the new offering unveiled at CES today is cheap.
The console comes from Hercules, is called the DJ 4Set, and will sell for about $250 when it hit stores this April. The console has two large jog dials for mixing and scratching and the backlight color for the dials and buttons can be adjusted between green or red colors. The console also has 4-channels with two for mixing and one output for previewing tracks.
The console can be split into four virtual decks to mix on and in 2-deck mode the user gets 60 controls and in 4-deck mode the user gets 112 controls. The controls are all MIDI-based and the console comes with the needed software.
