Google announced the Android 4.4 KitKat OS alongside the Google Nexus 5 last year, and is in the process of rolling out to devices.
Now, a new rumor claims that the next-generation Android 4.5 OS — we don’t know what it will be called at the moment — along with the alleged Nexus 8 tablet in July later this year.
The news came from Android Geeks, citing a person familiar with the matter, saying Google will not release the next-generation Android 4.5 at the Google I/O which will take place in June. Instead, the launch is pegged for July 2014, along with the purported Nexus 8 tablet.
The same source also confirmed we will not see any new product at the Google I/O conference, but it will just focus on services Google plans to bring in the market.
Another source also said Google is going to shut the doors for the 7-inch tablets as the competition has become fierce, and will focus instead on the 8-inchers, which has competition, but it’s not as tough as the 7-inch tablets and this makes sense.
Lastly, if the rumor about the launch of Android 4.5 alongside Nexus 8 is correct, we might see the operating system in its full swing on the alleged tablet.
What do you think about this? Last year, Google did unveil Android 4.3 Jelly Bean in July, and the search engine giant could follow the same cycle. It’s not confirmed at the moment so a grain of salt is advised, but it’s a possibility.
