The Google Nexus 6 is made by Motorola, and previous versions of the handset have been made by HTC, Samsung, and LG. According to a recent report, the Nexus 7 smartphone will be made by LG.
The Nexus 7 smartphone is expected to launch later this year, and according to the Korean media, LG will be making the handset for Google.
Google’s Strategic Partnership with LG
Google has apparently recently visited LG’s HQ in South Korea and is also visiting other LG companies, which include LG Innotek and LG Display. These visits are said to be related to the Google Nexus 7 smartphone, although they could also be in talks about other devices. This collaboration between Google and LG is not new; LG has previously manufactured the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5, both of which were well-received for their design and performance.
The partnership between Google and LG is seen as a strategic move to leverage LG’s expertise in hardware manufacturing and Google’s prowess in software development. LG Innotek is known for its advanced camera modules, which could mean significant improvements in the camera capabilities of the Nexus 7. Similarly, LG Display is a leader in screen technology, suggesting that the Nexus 7 could feature a high-resolution display with vibrant colors and excellent clarity.
Anticipated Features and Specifications
As yet, we have not heard any specifications on the new Nexus 7 smartphone, although we can expect the handset to come with a number of upgrades over the Nexus 6. The Nexus 6 featured a 6-inch AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 805 processor, and a 13-megapixel camera. Given the advancements in technology, the Nexus 7 is likely to feature a more powerful processor, possibly the Snapdragon 810 or 820, and an improved camera system, potentially with dual lenses for better depth sensing and low-light performance.
The handset is expected to launch in the later part of 2015. Rumors suggest that the Nexus 7 could come with a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, offering a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. This would make it an excellent device for media consumption, gaming, and productivity tasks. Additionally, the Nexus 7 is expected to run on the latest version of Android, providing users with the newest features and security updates.
Another area where the Nexus 7 could see improvements is battery life. The Nexus 6 had a 3220 mAh battery, which was decent but not exceptional. The Nexus 7 could feature a larger battery, possibly around 3500 mAh, along with fast charging capabilities to ensure that users can quickly top up their device when needed.
As soon as we get some more details on the device, we will let you guys know. The anticipation for the Nexus 7 is building, and it will be interesting to see how it stacks up against other flagship devices from competitors like Samsung, Apple, and Huawei.
