Google has this week rolled out a new feature called the Google Carousel which appears when you search for restaurants, bars or other local places on your desktop.
The Google Carousel has been designed to provide users with an interactive carousel of local results in easy reach right at the top of the page.
The Google Carousel feature allows you to easily scroll through results using navigation arrows at either end and a simple click on a result will provide you with more information about the establishment. Including its overall review score, address and photos of the restaurant or bar in question.
The Google Carousel feature has already been in use on Apple’s iPad tablet and Google’s Nexus Android tablet since last December and has now made its way onto the desktop. Google explains:
“Give Google Carousel a go—type or say “mexican restaurants,” or try any similar search for restaurants, bars or hotels. Click on one of the places in the carousel to get more details on it, including its overall review-based score, address and photos. If you want to see more places, click the arrow at the right of the carousel. And you can zoom in on the map that appears below the carousel to restrict your search to only places in a specific area.”
