As well as announcing the new Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P smartphones, Google also announced Nexus Protect, which is a new premium warranty for the handsets.
Nexus Protect will extend the warranty on your new Nexus smartphone from one year to two years and the new plan also covers accidental damage.
This new warranty covers mechanical breakdowns and also accidental damage repairs to the devices for a period of two years from when you buy the handset.
It looks like if you make a claim for accidental damage on the plan there will be a $79 deductible and you can apparently make two claims for this type of damage to the handset in the two years.
