Google has teamed up with Sony Pictures, Universal, NBC, and Warner Bros, and they have added a total of 3,000 new movies to their YouTube movie rental service.
This gives Google a catalog of over 6,000 movies that users in the US can rent, and prices for a movie rental on YouTube cost between $2.99 and $3.99, and you can either watch the movies through a Google TV device or your computer.
Today, we’re announcing another step in our goal to bring more of the video you love to YouTube: the addition of thousands of full-length feature films from major Hollywood studios available to rent in the US at youtube.com/movies.
Expanding the YouTube Movie Rental Service
The collaboration between Google and these major Hollywood studios marks a significant expansion of YouTube’s movie rental service. By adding 3,000 new titles, YouTube is not only increasing its library but also enhancing the variety and quality of content available to its users. This move is part of Google’s broader strategy to transform YouTube into a comprehensive entertainment platform, capable of competing with other streaming giants like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu.
The new additions include a mix of classic films, recent blockbusters, and critically acclaimed titles. This ensures that there is something for everyone, whether you are a fan of action, drama, comedy, or documentaries. For instance, users can now rent popular titles such as “Inception,” “The Social Network,” and “The Dark Knight,” alongside timeless classics like “Casablanca” and “Gone with the Wind.”
