Universal Pictures has this week released a new official red band trailer for the upcoming movie Good Boys, which will be premiering in theatres worldwide during August 2019. The new movie has been created by the minds behind Superbad, Pineapple Express, and Sausage Party.
Plot Overview
“After being invited to his first kissing party, 12-year-old Max (Room’s Jacob Tremblay) is panicking because he doesn’t know how to kiss. Eager for some pointers, Max and his best friends Thor (Brady Noon, HBO’s Boardwalk Empire) and Lucas (Keith L. Williams, Fox’s The Last Man On Earth) decide to use Max’s dad’s drone – which Max is forbidden to touch – to spy (they think) on a teenage couple making out next door.
But when things go ridiculously wrong, the drone is destroyed. Desperate to replace it before Max’s dad (Will Forte, The Last Man on Earth) gets home, the boys skip school and set off on an odyssey of epically bad decisions involving some accidentally stolen drugs, frat-house paintball, and running from both the cops and terrifying teenage girls (Life of the Party’s Molly Gordon and Ocean’s Eight’s Midori Francis). “
Behind the Scenes
The creative team behind Good Boys is a powerhouse of comedic talent. The film is produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who are known for their work on Superbad and Pineapple Express. Their unique brand of humor, which often blends outrageous scenarios with heartfelt moments, is expected to shine through in this new venture. The screenplay is written by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, who also serve as directors. Eisenberg and Stupnitsky have previously collaborated on popular TV shows like The Office, ensuring that the film will have a strong comedic backbone.
Cast and Characters
Jacob Tremblay, who plays Max, is no stranger to the big screen. He gained critical acclaim for his role in Room, and his performance in Good Boys is highly anticipated. Brady Noon, who plays Thor, is best known for his role in HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, while Keith L. Williams, who plays Lucas, has made a name for himself on Fox’s The Last Man On Earth. The supporting cast includes Will Forte, known for his work on The Last Man on Earth, Molly Gordon from Life of the Party, and Midori Francis from Ocean’s Eight.
Expectations and Reception
Given the pedigree of the creative team and the talented cast, expectations for Good Boys are high. The film promises to deliver a mix of raunchy humor and heartfelt moments, much like its predecessors Superbad and Pineapple Express. The red band trailer has already generated buzz, showcasing the film’s edgy humor and the chemistry between the young actors.
The film’s premise, which revolves around a group of young boys navigating a series of misadventures, is both relatable and entertaining. The use of a drone to spy on a teenage couple, the accidental theft of drugs, and the ensuing chaos are all elements that promise to keep audiences laughing from start to finish.
Good Boys is shaping up to be one of the must-see comedies of 2019. With a talented cast, a strong creative team, and a hilarious premise, the film is poised to be a hit. Whether you’re a fan of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s previous work or simply looking for a good laugh, Good Boys is sure to deliver.
