
After raising over $27 million in pre-order funding thanks to its in-house crowdfunding campaign, the team behind the Glowforge 3D laser desktop CNC cutter are now preparing to start shipping they new system to customers during Q2 2016.
The Glowforge laser cutting system is still available to preorder priced at $2,395 and is capable of both cutting and engraving a wide variety of materials including wood, acrylic, leather, fabric or glass. Check out the promotional video below to learn more about its design and functionality.
The building area of the Glowforge is available in either as a basic model which measures 12 x 20 inches or if you are looking for a slightly larger machine then the Glowforge Pro offers a cutting area 20 inches by “infinity”. Features include :

– Custom 40W (basic) / 45W (pro) laser
– Optical thickness measurement
– Continuous realtime autofocus
Our standard model can create everything shown on the Glowforge home page and is perfect for home, hobby, or occasional shop use. It needs ventilation via the provided 4″ diameter (10.2cm) hose. We recommend putting the hose out a window.
Our Pro model is designed for frequent, shared use, like a makerspace. It comes with upgraded optics, tube, and cooling. The passthrough lets you use long materials but requires additional safety precautions. Includes an Air Filter. Trace mode scans material with a drawing on it, then cuts and engraves over the top. Compatible with JPG, PNG, TIF, SVG, AI, DXF, PDF, and many more file formats. Drag-and-drop with live preview to position designs on the material.
