Facebook has announced the launch of a new data center in Texas and this one will be powered by wind power.
The company has said that it intends to have half of its operations powered by renewable energy by 2018.
Today we announced that Fort Worth, Texas, will be the home for our next data center. Along with our Altoona, Prineville, Forest City and Lulea data centers, Fort Worth will be one of the cornerstones of the global infrastructure that brings Facebook apps and services to you every day and is helping bring billions more people online through Internet.org.
The new data center in Forth Worth, Texas will be powered by 100% renewable energy, the center will use part of the new 200 MW wind energy that the company helped bring to the Texas power grid.
