A new style of computer mouse called the EGO Smartmouse has this week started its journey on Kickstarter, looking for pledges to make the jump from concept to production.
The unique multi-use EGO Smartmouse can be used as either a 2D or 3D mouse and is equipped with onboard storage for file transfer and will even seamlessly switch from one computer to another. Watch the video after the jump to see it in action.
The new EGO Smartmouse is is based on a Linux operating system running on a 400 Mhz ARM9 microcontroller and is fitted with 4GB of Flash memory. Laura Sapiens the EGO Smartmouse creator explains that its:
“The first device that allows you to interact with every computer, move freely between them and access your digital identity, seamlessly. Every desktop, laptop, smart-TV, projector and whiteboard can be instantly customized, allowing you to find what you like, what you are looking for or what you were doing on another computer.”
Its designers have embedded a number of sensors including a accelerometer, gyroscope, compass and an optical mouse sensor, for the 2D and 3D control. Together with a Bluetooth chip, VGA camera a touch surface, vibration motor and LEDs.
