Despite Blizzard’s Diablo 3 being synonymous with the Battle.net service on PC, the developer will not be connecting the console version of the game to its service. Another important difference between Diablo 3 in its current form and the upcoming console port is that the latter will feature offline single player support.
And while this means no divisive real money Auction House, it also means no cross-platform play and a potentially very different online experience.
“While we think cross-platform play would be awesome, there are currently no plans to allow connectivity between PlayStation Network and Battle.net,” according to a Blizzard community manager writing on the Diablo 3 forum. “As a result, the characters on your Battle.net account and PlayStation account will also remain separate.”
