The RC Tractor Guy, has created a new customisable remote controller which has been designed for radio and infrared control electronics projects and is capable of controlling anything from vehicles to robotics.
Features of the RC controller include a socket to suit Meduino Mega 2560 Pro Mini microcontroller, an Arduino shield socket capable of accepting a 2.4″ TFT display, 20 programmable push buttons together with 2 x PS3 Thumb sticks, 2 x Rotary encoders and more.
Its developer explain more in the video below.
The controller is probably the most important component in the RC system but there is more to do and that is where your funding will help. When the kickstarter ends, I will send the controller PCB files off to be manufactured but I will also send in files for two additional PCBs which I want to start testing.
The first PCB will have an Atmega328, a TB6612FNG motor and header to connect an NRF24L01 radio module. This is intended to be a compact solution used in any vehicle requiring control of a drive motor or two like an RC tractor, truck or even a line following or obstacle avoidance robot.
The second PCB will contain an Atmega328 and a header to connect an NRF24L01 radio module but it will have multiple TB6612FNG motor drivers built in. This is intended for more complex designs with a large number of motors like an RC excavator or a robotic arm.
The customisable remote controller project is currently over on the Kickstarter crowd funding website looking to raise just €2,000 in pledges to make the jump from concept to production. So if you think customisable remote controller is something you could benefit from, visit the Kickstarter website now to make a pledge from just €11 and help the customisable remote controller become a reality.
