Google has today announced the launch of a new feature to its Chromecast media streaming dongle with the addition of a new Chromecast guest mode, that has been added to enable your friends to stream directly to your TV using the Google Chromecast adapter without first having to connect to your wireless network using a username and password.
Once the Chromecast guest mode has been enabled on your Chromecast dongle any Android devices can use the Google Chromecast application loaded on their hardware to stream to your TV, as long as they are in the same room.
Google explains how to set up the new Chromecast guest mode feature: “To set up guest mode for your Chromecast, open the Chromecast app on your Android phone or tablet and select “Devices” from the navigation drawer. Choose your Chromecast device, tap the “Guest mode” setting and then turn the slider to “on.”
Google has started rolling out the new feature today so make sure your Chromecast application is updated to the latest version on your Android smartphone and tablet to be able to use it.
