The new Apple Watch Series 3 is Apple’s first smartwatch to come with LTE cellular access, this means that the device can be used without your iPhone.
According to a recent report by the Wall Street Journal, China has apparently blocked the LTE on the Apple Watch 3.
In China mobile phones are heavily regulated and the government requires the carriers to track individual smartphones, this is apparently something that cannot be done on the new Apple Watch.
As the new Apple Watch features an eSim, the device can apparently not be identified in the same way a smartphone can. China Unicom was offering the LTE on the Apple Watch when it launched, this feature has now been suspended.
It is not clear as yet on whether the LTE feature will be added back to the Apple Watch Series 3 in China, as soon as we get some more details, we will let you guys know. If it does not get restored then there will be no point Apple selling the LTE version of the device in China.
