As well as the new Kindle Fire Spotify app which launched this week, the Kindle now has an Optimum TV streaming app from Cablevision, enabling Kindle Fire owners to benefit from their services.
The new Kindle Fire Cablevision Optimum app is now available to download from the Amazon Store and allows users to stream any channels they pay for directly to their Kindle Fire tablet, through their home wireless network.
Features and Functionalities
Other features of the Kindle Fire app include the ability to control your cable box and your DVR, as well as view recommendations and rate programs. This makes it a versatile tool for managing your TV viewing experience. The app also supports advanced category filtering, which allows users to easily find the type of content they are interested in. For example, if you are a fan of sports, you can filter the channels to show only sports-related content. Similarly, if you are interested in movies, you can filter to show only movie channels.
Bradley Feldman, Cablevision’s vice president of video product management explains:
“When we launched the Optimum App on the iPad a year ago, we said we planned to bring it to every screen in the home capable of functioning as a television, and now the Kindle Fire has joined that expanding list, our first Android deployment,”-“We are pleased to enable our app on another device in the home, with an emphasis on program discovery, advanced category filtering, and personalized ratings and recommendations, to help customers further unlock the value of Optimum.”
User Experience and Interface
The new Optimum TV Kindle Fire app also has an enhanced user interface and channel guide. The interface is designed to be intuitive and user-friendly, making it easy for users to navigate through the various features and functionalities. The channel guide is comprehensive and provides detailed information about the programs being aired, including their timings and a brief description. This helps users to plan their viewing schedule more effectively.
Moreover, the app supports personalized ratings and recommendations. This means that the more you use the app, the better it gets at recommending content that you are likely to enjoy. For instance, if you frequently watch cooking shows, the app will start recommending similar shows that you might find interesting. This personalized approach enhances the overall user experience and makes it easier for users to discover new content.
Another notable feature is the ability to control your DVR. This means that you can schedule recordings of your favorite shows directly from the app, even if you are not at home. This is particularly useful for users who have a busy schedule and do not want to miss their favorite programs.
