Buffalo has launched the worlds first 12x Blu-ray burner, which supports USB 3.0, the Buffalo BR-X1216U3.
The Buffalo BR-X1216U3 12x USB 3.0 Blue-ray Burner is backwards compatible with USB 2.0, which is quite handy at the moment as there aren’t any PCs out yet with USB 3.0, although we have seen a couple of motherboards released recently.
In the USB 2.0 mode, you can only burn Blu-ray discs at 7x speed and it is only compatible with Windows XP, Vista and Seven, it is expected to go on sale next month in Japan for about $460.
There is no word on when we are likely to see the Buffalo BR-X1216U3 12x USB 3.0 Blue-ray Burner arrive in the US and Europe and no details on pricing, although it will probably be similar to the Japanese price.
