Sources close to RIM have divulged information that the company may be looking to enable Android compatibility into its QNX software, designed to run on Blackberry devices. The new Android support will provide six times more application for Blackberry customers, than they currently have access to via RIM’s App World.
Devices launched next year are expected to be enabled with the new Android compatibility that will enable Blackberry users to benefit from the huge library of 250,000 Android application currently available.
Even though RIM has said that its QNX-powered PlayBook tablet will be equipped with technology enabling it to run and benefit from Android apps. RIM hasn’t yet disclosed whether QNX phones will have the same Android support. As more information becomes available we will keep you updated.
