Apple just confirmed they are purchasing Beats Music and Beats Electronics for $3 billion, and if you are wondering what will happen to Beats Music on other platforms like Android and Windows Phone, there is some good news.
Apple will be keeping Beats Music available to both Android and Windows Phone after the deal goes through, the news was announced by Apple’s Eddie Cue at the Code Conference.
Some of these things, like iMessage, are really integrated deeply into the hardware. Those types of opportunites are more difficult to do with other other hardware, but we’ll keep providing some services to other platforms. Like Beats, for instance. It’s on Android now and we want to keep it that way.
This is good news for Beats Music fans on other platforms, who will continue to be able use the service after the deal goes through.
There are a couple of reasons why Apple would want to keep Beats Music available on all platforms, one would be to keep the regulators happy for approval of the deal.
Another reason would be that Apple can see potential in generating revenue from Beats Music on other platforms, and this may also be a way for Apple to introduce some of their other services to other platforms as well as iOS.
We can expect to heard more information about the Beats Music and Beats Electronics purchase by Apple at WWDC 2014, which takes place next week.
