Camera manufacturer SiOnyx has created a new day and truly night vision camera called the Aurora which is capable of allowing users to view and record subjects 24-hour as a day thanks to the true colour night vision. Watch the demonstration video below to learn more about the SiOnyx Aurora day and night vision camera which was this week launched by Kickstarter and was successfully funded in just four hours thanks to over 260 backers.
The Kickstarter campaign has already raised over $115,000 and will start shipping out to worldwide backers during July 2018. Features of the camera include GPS, accelerometer and compass as well as a variety of speed modes enabling users to take still photographs as well as continuous video and time-lapse video if preferred complete with sound 720p. Recorded footage saved in the .MOV file format and the camera technology is enclosed in a IP67 Waterproof casing which can be submerged up to 3 ft for up to 30 minutes at a time.
The development team at SiOnyx explain a little more about their new Aurora camera. “High resolution day only cameras have small pixels and sensor sizes, usually 4 to 5 mm. However, good night vision requires a larger sensor and big pixels. Very high resolution with big pixels require a very big sensor and an equally large lens — goodbye portability — and a budget busting price tag of more than 10x Aurora’s current cost.”
