Asus will start taking pre-orders on their ZenFone AR in the UK from today. The handset is a Google Tango device and also supports Google’s Daydream, making it one of the most versatile smartphones available for augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) applications.
Display and Design
The Asus ZenFone AR is equipped with a 5.7-inch display that has a WQHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, ensuring crisp and vibrant visuals. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 4, which offers enhanced durability and resistance to scratches and drops. The large screen size and high resolution make it ideal for immersive AR and VR experiences, as well as for watching videos and playing games.
Performance and Storage
The handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, which is a high-performance chipset designed to handle demanding applications and multitasking with ease. It features 6GB of RAM, allowing for smooth and efficient performance even when running multiple apps simultaneously. This makes the ZenFone AR a powerful device for both everyday use and more intensive tasks such as gaming and AR applications.
Other specifications on the ZenFone AR include a 23-megapixel rear camera, which is complemented by a motion tracking and depth sensing rear camera. This combination allows for advanced AR capabilities, enabling users to interact with digital objects in the real world in a seamless and intuitive manner. On the front of the device is an 8-megapixel camera with an f/2.0 aperture, which is perfect for taking high-quality selfies and making video calls.
The handset comes with 128GB of internal storage, providing ample space for apps, photos, videos, and other media. Additionally, it features a microSD card slot that supports cards up to 2TB, allowing users to expand their storage capacity significantly. There is also 100GB of Google Drive space included for two years, offering additional cloud storage for important files and documents.
AR and VR Capabilities
One of the standout features of the Asus ZenFone AR is its support for Google Tango and Daydream. Google Tango is a platform that enables augmented reality experiences by using advanced computer vision, depth sensing, and motion tracking technologies. With Tango, users can enjoy a wide range of AR applications, from gaming and entertainment to education and productivity.
Google Daydream, on the other hand, is a virtual reality platform that provides an immersive VR experience.
