Asus has unveiled a new device called the Asus VariDrive DVD Drive Dock they have created to provide DVD support to Ultrabooks and laptops which during the design process have had to drop their DVD drives to keep the ultra-thin form factors.
The new Asus VarDrive is equipped with an 8X DVD burner as well as 3 x USB 3.0 ports, 1 xHDMI and 1 x VGA ports, together with a Gigabit Ethernet connection.
Asus has finished their VarDrive in brushed aluminium to match the design of their Zenbook line, of Ultrabooks, although it can be attached to any laptop or ultrabook via a single USB connection. Allowing you to leave your monitor, keyboard, mouse and pother peripherals connected to the dock when needed.
Unfortunately no information on pricing or worldwide availability has been released as yet, but as soon as information comes to light we will keep you updated as always.
