Asus has unveiled a new device called the Asus VariDrive DVD Drive Dock they have created to provide DVD support to Ultrabooks and laptops which during the design process have had to drop their DVD drives to keep the ultra-thin form factors.
The new Asus VariDrive is equipped with an 8X DVD burner as well as 3 x USB 3.0 ports, 1 x HDMI and 1 x VGA ports, together with a Gigabit Ethernet connection.
Asus has finished their VariDrive in brushed aluminium to match the design of their Zenbook line of Ultrabooks, although it can be attached to any laptop or ultrabook via a single USB connection. Allowing you to leave your monitor, keyboard, mouse and other peripherals connected to the dock when needed.
