Yesterday, Apple released their seventh beta of iOS 11, and now we have a video showcasing a comparison between Apple’s iOS 10.3.3 and iOS 11 Beta 7.
In the video below, we get to see iOS 11 Beta 7 running side by side with iOS 10.3.3, which is the current release of Apple’s mobile software. The test is conducted on two iPhone 6S handsets placed side by side.
As we can see from the video, iOS 10.3.3 booted up faster than the current iOS 11 Beta 7. This will probably change when the final version of iOS 11 is released.
Performance and Features Comparison
While boot times are an important aspect of performance, they are not the only metric to consider. iOS 11 brings a host of new features and improvements that are worth noting. For instance, iOS 11 introduces a redesigned Control Center, which is now customizable, allowing users to add or remove shortcuts based on their preferences. This is a significant upgrade from iOS 10.3.3, where the Control Center is more static and less user-friendly.
Another notable feature in iOS 11 is the new Files app, which provides a centralized location for all your files, whether they are stored locally, in iCloud, or in third-party cloud services like Dropbox. This is a game-changer for productivity, making file management much more straightforward compared to iOS 10.3.3.
Expectations for the Final Release
As yet, Apple has not given us a specific release date for their iOS 11 software. All we know is that it is coming this fall. Historically, Apple tends to release new iOS versions in September, coinciding with the launch of new iPhone models. This year, we are expecting Apple to release iOS 11 around the same time as the highly anticipated iPhone 8.
The final version of iOS 11 is expected to be more polished and optimized than the current beta versions. Beta software is inherently unstable and is primarily intended for developers and early adopters to test and provide feedback. Therefore, any performance issues observed in the beta versions, such as slower boot times, are likely to be addressed in the final release.
Moreover, iOS 11 is expected to bring improvements in augmented reality (AR) capabilities, thanks to the introduction of ARKit. This will enable developers to create more immersive and interactive AR experiences, which could be a significant selling point for the new iPhone models.
In summary, while iOS 10.3.3 may currently have an edge in terms of boot times, iOS 11 Beta 7 offers a glimpse into the future of Apple’s mobile operating system, with numerous enhancements and new features that promise to elevate the user experience. We look forward to the final release of iOS 11 and the new possibilities it will bring.
