Samsung finally unveiled their oversized 12.2-inch Galaxy NotePro and Galaxy TabPro at a press event held in Las Vegas last week during the Consumers Electronics Show.
In case you can’t recall, Apple is also working on a massive 12.9-inch iPad that’s expected to see the light of the day later this year, but we’ve yet to come across a definite launch date, which will only happen when Apple will make things official. According to a new rumor, Apple will take the wraps of its oversized tablet by the end of third quarter later this year.
The source of news? Digitimes. Yes, the publication, with a hit-n-miss track record, said that Apple will unveil the large iPad by the end of the third quarter.
Samsung’s recent launch of its 12.2-inch model is expected to propel Apple to accelerate development of large-size iPads. Market sources indicated that Apple is likely to release a 12.9-inch model by the end of the third quarter at the earliest.
It’s not the only thing the publication mention, it also said that Samsung is working on more Lite versions of its tablets, which are expected to hit retail in the coming months. Recently, Samsung unveiled the lite version of the Galaxy Tab 3, and is rumored to be working on a bunch of lite versions of its smartphones as well, including Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo and .
Samsung is also likely to launch more Galaxy Lite models, with prices going down as low as US$129, the sources indicated, adding that Samsung’s tablet shipments in 2014 are expected to reach 60-70 million units compared to 40 million shipped in 2013.
Earlier rumors suggest that Apple will unveil the gigantic iPad in October, but we’ve yet to witness anything official. So, lets take this rumor with a pinch of salt.
