As promised, Apple has released the much awaited iOS 8.1 operating system which comes with plethora of new features and enhancements for iOS devices. The new version was seeded to developers last month, and it seems it’s ready to roll out to public.
The update is rolling out over-the-air for a handful of devices, including iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5, iPhone 4s, iPad Air, iPad mini with Retina display, iPad mini, iPad (third- and fourth-generation), iPad 2 and fifth-generation iPod touch. Users can also get the update by connecting their device to iTunes, and update accordingly.
The update brings Apple Pay, the smart NFC based mobile payments system from the Cupertino company, for both the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. The update also give users the ability to send and receive SMS and MMS text messages on their iPad and Mac. The latest iOS 8.1 update also adds iCloud Photos Library as a beta service, ability to switch between 2G, 3G, or LTE networks, Adds AirDrop support for Passbook passes, and more.
Simply head over to Settings > General > Software update, and follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the update. It’s that simple.
