Apple previously said that their new Mac Pro would launch in December and now we have a release date for Apple’s new high-end Mac. It will go on sale tomorrow, the 10th of December.
Apple has sent out emails to its customers letting them know that the new Apple Mac Pro and the Apple Pro Display XDR will be available to order from tomorrow.
Specifications and Pricing
Apple’s Mac Pro starts at $6,000 and it comes with some high-end specifications. The base model includes an 8-core Intel Xeon processor, 32GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD, and a Radeon Pro 580X graphics card. However, the top model with all of the upgrades is expected to cost considerably more. For instance, you can upgrade to a 28-core Intel Xeon processor, up to 1.5TB of RAM, and dual Radeon Pro Vega II Duo graphics cards. These upgrades can push the price well beyond $50,000, making it one of the most expensive consumer-grade computers available.
Apple’s new high-end display, the Pro Display XDR, comes with a 6K resolution and this device starts at $5,000. The Pro Display XDR is designed to offer professional-grade color accuracy and brightness, making it ideal for video editors, photographers, and other creative professionals. It features a 32-inch Retina 6K display with a resolution of 6016 x 3384 pixels, a peak brightness of 1600 nits, and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Additionally, the display supports the P3 wide color gamut and true 10-bit color for over a billion colors.
Additional Features and Accessories
The Mac Pro is not just about raw power; it also offers a range of features designed to enhance productivity and customization. The modular design allows users to easily upgrade components, ensuring that the machine can grow with their needs. It also includes eight PCIe expansion slots, providing ample room for additional graphics cards, storage, and other peripherals.
One of the standout features of the Mac Pro is its Afterburner card, an optional accelerator card that can dramatically speed up video editing workflows. The Afterburner card can decode up to three streams of 8K ProRes RAW video simultaneously, or up to 12 streams of 4K ProRes RAW video, making it a game-changer for video professionals.
The Pro Display XDR also comes with a range of accessories, including the Pro Stand and the VESA Mount Adapter. The Pro Stand, which costs an additional $999, allows users to adjust the height, tilt, and rotation of the display for optimal viewing angles. The VESA Mount Adapter, priced at $199, provides compatibility with VESA mounts, giving users more flexibility in how they set up their workspace.
It will be interesting to see just how much the top version of the new Mac Pro sells for. We will have more details tomorrow when they go on sale. Given the high price point, it’s clear that Apple is targeting professionals who require the utmost in performance and reliability.
The new Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR represent Apple’s most ambitious hardware offerings to date. With their high-end specifications, modular design, and professional-grade features, they are set to become the go-to choice for creative professionals and power users. Whether you’re a video editor, a 3D artist, or a software developer, the Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR offer the performance and flexibility needed to tackle the most demanding tasks.
